Oh Brandon, how sweet and precious! So romantic too!

Believe it or not I still remember mine and Frank's first anniversary. I thought our marriage was certainly over or at least very close to it when I unwrapped the anniversary present that Frank handed me when he got home from work.

"Happy Anniversary!" he said with a great big smile. I was so excited as I began tearing off the beautiful paper and bow.
Thoughts of a pretty night gown, robe, dress, blouse or jewlery in that box raced through my mind, although I knew he couldn't afford to get much on his $32.50 per week.

Finally, I got the lid off that big old box. I pulled back the white paper and there it was, a romantic present from my dear husband: An ugly brown bathmat set!:eek

Frank could sense my disappointment, especially when I asked him why did he buy such an unromatic gift for me for our anniversary. He explained that he knew how practical and sensible I was with money. So he figured that I would be so proud of him for buying something we really needed for our apartment. :lol

Needless to say, he never again bought me an anniversary gift. :lol He was afraid I wouldn't like what he bought.

But we always made it special each year. Just getting away to be together and having dinner at our favorite steak restaurant. After 44 years of marriage, my heart still skips a beat when I see him or/and hear his voice. We are still so in love with each other. Even more so than when we first fell in love over 47 years ago.

Thank you Jesus!

Sorry Brandon for getting carried away. :\
